When I painted The Running Shepherds, I thought about the shepherds’ urgency after the angel’s message: “Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened.” They didn’t stroll — they ran. I love how this reminds me that encountering Jesus is worth pursuing with eagerness and joy. I wanted this artwork to capture that movement, that holy anticipation of meeting the Savior face to face.
